Touching Safety

Last week Ms. Reese from W.A.R. talked to us about "Touching Safety." She taught us that our private parts are under our bathing suit. We learned "an older person should not touch my private parts except to keep me clean or healthy." The person should have a good reason to touch or see your private parts such as a parent changing a diaper, a babysitter giving us a bath or a doctor giving us a check up.
We learned a song:

This is my Body
Tune: Turkey in the Straw

This is my body it belongs to me
Some parts of my body I let others see.
Like my elbows, my neck, my knees and my toes.
But my private parts belong just to me.

Don't keep secrets about touching. Don't play games with touching. If an older person asks you if he/she can touch your private parts or he/she wants you to touch theirs and it makes you feel mixed up and you can't think of a good reason for them to touch your private parts like to keep you clean or healthy then here's what to do:
Chant:

Say no!
Get away!
Tell someone.
Tell someone.

You should tell your mom or dad first. If they don't know what to do you can also tell your teacher. We want you to feel safe and happy. Remember: You own your body and it's your right to protect it.

Ms. Reese came to see us twice. She presented this safety message in a very caring way! We hope you will reinforce Ms. Reese's important message with your child at home.
