Sarah B. saw a bird with a red head in the tree outside our window!
She remembered a book about Woodpeckers in our Buddy Book Library!
It was the bird in the tree! What a connection!
Minutes later she noticed a large bird in the same tree.
Mr. Ferrante saw it flying and said it has a large wingspan!
We identified it as a Bald Eagle!
Nearby Heinz Wildlife Preserve has bald eagles nesting!

The Ridley Park Fire Department visited Lakeview School!
We watched a firefighter put on her gear, then tried on some real gear.
We practiced "Stop, Drop and Roll" then we climbed inside a pumper truck.

Reading in Our Kindergarten

In our small group, each child reads each book out loud using strategies
to figure out the words such as, getting your mouth ready, using picture clues,
looking for little words in big words, and remembering sight words.
At home, your child should read each book out loud to a grownup then
should add the title to our monthly "Book Treasure Box Reading Log."
Keep all the books we make in your "Book Treasure Box"
so your child can practice reading anytime!
